Easter Reminded Me of the Miracles That Are My Children

Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! Things have been busy. I am still a working mom of three, working full time who is trying to make a difference. I do a lot of things and try to be present so that I can learn from them. I share them on this blog so that we can learn together. Below are some thoughts, hacks, and/or lessons that I have learned from navigating my world. Below is a tale of my road to becoming the mother of three. It was a road filled with joys and disappointments. However, I wouldn't giving nothing for my journey now. Here's to embracing every step of the journey, even the painful ones, and embracing the lessons learned along the way.

Giveaway: A Free Massage from East Eden Eden (Enter Contest Soon!)

Pittsburghers we have a little piece of paradise and it is not located in Heinz Field. It is in East Liberty and it is called "East End Eden" . It’s a wellness center where you can escape from the challenges of the world. It was started by Emily Escalante.

Emily is a true renaissance woman. She is  a former graphic designer who decided to venture on a new path.  After being downsized a few years ago Emily attended Pittsburgh Massage Therapy and became a certified massage therapist. Then, she started “East End Eden”. She also writes a blog called, "The Thirsty Therapist" located at http://www.e3mt.com/thirsty.html.  She has even assisted the Pittsburgh Steelers 2011 Training Camp!

Some people get to travel the world like Elizabeth Gilbert and "Eat, Pray, and Love" their way to balance. Most of us have to find our balance locally. In Pittsburgh, thanks to Emily, "East End Eden" is a place where stressed mothers, fathers, and singles can unwind, relax, and find balance. “East End Eden” offers yoga forstress management, life coaching with a nutrition focus, massage, and other classes and services. Emily is married and mother to two elementary aged children. She has been a stay-at-home mom. She has worked in corporate America. Now she is an entrepreneur. She understands that balance is not just a necessity for mothers who work outside of the home. All mothers need to take time for themselves. As Emily said, “If you focus externally, even if it’s on your family, you will burn out and won’t be able to be a force for change in the world.”

Emily believes that Pittsburgh is an ideal community to start a small business and now is the ideal time to do so. Time will tell if she is right about that. However, I know that I enjoyed the serene environment at “East End Eden”. I know that being there made me feel more centered and put me in a Zen like state. I know that it is an ideal place to get re-charged.

I  also know that would like to share that experience with one of my readers. Emily was generous enough to give one of my blog readers a free massage.  Perhaps you would like to give one to a special man in your life for Father's Day?

Here are the rules of the contest:

2.   Like my Facebook Page. It is located at www.facebook.com/chatonsworldpage.

Girl! I so need a massage or to be completely wrapped in bubble wrap to protect me from this dark cloud that seems to be hanging over my head! At the end of April, I feel & tore the tendons/ligaments in my ankle, have to have reconstructive surgery in July. Two weeks later, almost cut my finger off in the handstick blender trying to make stuffed jalapenos. Because of those two accidents, didn't get to run the half marathon :( Last week, dropped my cell phone on my toe & broke it!! Then later that day, I got into a car accident!!! Please destress me!!!!!!!! East End Eden, take me away!!!!!

To say that my husband, Jimmy, spoils me would be an understatement. This is a man who wakes me every morning with a gentle touch and a cup of coffee……gets my cranky-morning-self out of bed and out the door, along with the 3-year old and 7-month old, and does it all with a smile on his face…..and returns home at night and always says, smiling, “what does everyone want for dinner?” This is the man who never left my side (literally staying overnight with me during my hospital stay for my double mastectomy and all my chemo treatments) and fought breast cancer with me at the young age of 32, after only 1-year of marriage. This is the man who works a full 40-hour+ work week and started his own company on the side, doing what he loves, to help provide our little family with just a little more. This is the man, who most recently, spent his Father’s Day cooking lunch for MY father and then spent the afternoon building our boys their very 1st sandbox. And, this wonderful man, never complains. In my heart, this is a man who deserves a little piece of paradise in East Liberty called "East End Eden”.
