One Secret to a Working Mom's Success: Keep Standing

Me, standing in Barbados Those of us who live our lives out loud on the internet subject ourselves to scrutiny. Some comment, "Nobody's life is perfect. These posts must be fake," Those making those comments might even be close to us because they "know our business" and they whisper and gossip and say, "she's so fake".  To those who may read my blog and make such comments, (the trolls) know that I hear you, see you, and completely disagree.

A Peek Into the Life of a Blogger Mom: 4th of July Fashion

Like on Memorial Day, the 4th of July was a time for mommy and toddler to wear our best summer fashions!

Some days we wear what moves us and some days we plan what we're going to wear around an event or holiday. We did the latter for the 4th of July. I got lucky at the Carter's store and scored the cutest blue and white striped dress with a little red flower with white stars on it.

Even though I'm not the kind of mom who insists on matching her daughter all of the time, I do like to match for photographs and whenever the mood hits me. Since I planned on taking photographs to post on the blog, I knew that I had to at least compliment the toddler. So, I perused my closet for the right thing.  I settled on a white Calvin Klein sundress that I scored in Manhattan at Syms a few years ago.

My dress was lovely and it was perfect, or at least almost perfect. I am the mother of a toddler. What was I thinking when I selected an all white dress in the lightest cotton that it's almost chiffon to wear to our cookout?!  Sometimes, I forget that I live in this world and not in my own fantasy version of it.

We had quite the feast, including grilled chicken covered in Korean Barbeque sauce, grilled vegetables, rice and beans, and my famous pasta salad. Actually, it wasn't exactly my famous pasta salad.  I forgot to add the Goya Sazon that I usually include.  Fortunately, nobody missed it but me and Andre.  I actually wouldn't have noticed that I had forgotten the Goya Sazon if it weren't for Andre.  Gotta love him for always pointing out things like that...

When it came time to eat the toddler only wanted her mommy.  In an effort to avoid a tantrum, and because I am quite addicted to her, I happily obliged and enjoyed the moment.  Then I looked down and saw that she had placed her barbeque sauce covered hand on my dress.

I had to laugh because I totally knew better! Then, even though we get to see fireworks nearly every week compliments of the Pittsburgh Pirates, we went to see the fireworks! Just a day in the life of a blogger mom!

Pay no attention to the orange jellies that don't match her outfit. I think her dad picked them out!!!
