Raising Children Sometimes Creates Parenting Conflicts...

Today was remarkably ordinary. I woke up early. It was later than my planned time, but earlier than the "OMG! How am I going to shower, comb my hair and appease my toddler in ten minutes?!"

There were two bright spots today. The sun was shining in Pittsburgh at least part of the day. Also, my toddler woke up before I left for work, which got my day off to a loving start.  Initially, she didn't want me to go to work, but I was able to bribe her into compliance with cartoons and Maria cookies.

That's right, I bribed my toddler with television and sweets when I left for work... Don't judge me!

My work day was a series of meetings and projects. After work I met with my financial advisor to talk about how we can make a dollar out of fifteen cents. He also gave me advice about my blog.  He's a huge proponent of Wordpress and its plug ins.    I have to evaluate the costs and benefits of each platform and make a decision.  However, evaluation takes time...

Conflicts over parenting techniques.

At home Andre and I had a debate/conflict/fight about child rearing techniques. I'm still not sure what bucket it falls in. However, I am sure that we didn't agree. He thinks that our daughter's strong will is an act of defiance. I think that she's still trying to make sense of the world. Our point of view greatly influences our parenting approaches. I work in conflict resolution so I understand the theory.  However, I'd love to hear about how more "seasoned" parents have handled parenting differences.

Where's Heidi Murkoff when you need her?! Perhaps instead of writing the sequel to "What to Expect When You're Expecting" she can write "What to Expect When You're Facing Jail Time for Strangling Your Spouse..."
