One Secret to Success for a Working Mom, Expand Your Village (Jack and Jill of America)

Jack and Jill of America member and her daughter Recently, I have become keenly aware that good kids are created by accident. They become good because someone made a concerted effort to pour positive things into them--things like, honor, discipline and respect for others. These qualities are taught through lessons and by observation. For that reason, I have been actively considering how to give my children more examples of people who embody those qualities.  Indeed, raising my children to become good people is my most important job.

A Blogger Helps Bottom Dollar Food Celebrate It's Birthday!

A year ago I was contacted by a representative from Bottom Dollar Food. Later they sent me a gift card and a piggy bank and invited me to visit their Pittsburgh store. Bottom Dollar is a discount grocery store that has decided to increase the competition in the grocery market in Pittsburgh. And although Giant Eagle is also good to bloggers and provides a great service, as an economics major and a mom, I am all about having competition in the grocery market!

Well, I visited Bottom Dollar. It was clean well organized and had the lowest prices on olive oil and Chobani yogurt that I have ever seen! In a word, the trip was worth it. In case you haven’t check it out, you should visit today. Thursday, January 31 will their 1st Birthday in Pittsburgh and Youngstown!

To celebrate the first 200 customers through the door at each store location get a gift—a really cool Flying Piggy Bank Blimp keychain!
And, wait for it—he talks! Plus, they’ll have random gift card giveaways every hour, in store from 8am to 9pm!  (Why a flying piggy bank??? The flying piggy bank is their thing. It reminds you that you’re saving money!)

They will also be donating up to $5,000 each to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley!

Even if you don’t visit the store, you can still help them donate to the food bank.  Here’s how:

2.    Follow us on Twitter: @SaveAtBDF

3.    Check in at any Bottom Dollar Food location on Foursquare

On Thursday only, for every new like, follow and check in, they’ll donate $10 to the two local food banks up to a total of $10,000 ($5,000 donation each)!
Happy to have saved money at Bottom Dollar Foods!
