One Secret to a Working Mom Success: Celebrate the Seasons With Traditions

Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ! Things have been busy. I am still a working mom of three, working full time who is trying to make a difference. I do a lot of things and try to be present so that I can learn from them. I share them on this blog so that we can learn together. Below are some thoughts, hacks, and/or lessons that I have learned from navigating my world. "Family traditions counter alienation and confusion. They help us define who we are; they provide something steady, reliable and safe in a confusing world."— Susan Lieberman   Traditions have a way of defining a family, provide stability and give hope. They are especially important for woking moms who spend so much time working to provide for their family that they may miss some of the "traditional" mom things like bake sales, volunteering at the book fair, and a host of actual and seemingly made up holidays.  They are also important for families trying to reinvent themselves in the wake of d...

A Peek Into the Life of a Working Mom: Hanging Out With Other Bloggers

Becoming a mother has been a huge blessing to me. There has been the joy and love I feel for my daughter and the love I get in return. In addition, I have become a part of the community of mothers. Being a part of that community has greatly enriched my life and influenced this blog.

Blogging Helps Moms Build a Virtual Community

It takes a village to raise a child, but sometimes that village is a little spread out... Blogging allows me to communicate with other mothers in a safe, authentic space. While there every motherhood experience is unique there are similarities. This is why I blog. I blog because I have story to tell and believe profoundly that sharing my journey can help inspire other working moms.

The other day I had the opportunity to attend a lunch and learn event for bloggers compliments of Heather Hopson of, Diary of a First Time Mom and The Motherhood. I gained tips for my blog, which was nice. However, spending time with members of my newly adopted community of bloggers was fantastic.

Sometimes You Need to Be Social, In Person

Both blogging and motherhood can be all consuming. While both have been deeply rewarding for me they can be isolating. And even though I am a huge fan and heavy user of social media, sometimes I just need to be social. I am grateful to Heather and The Motherhood for hosting us.

They scheduled the event with ladies in mind. We had a fun ice breaker that was designed to help us develop relationships. They provided us with tasty, healthy food. They also gave everyone a cute bracelet that I have been wearing everyday since. It's like we are now all in a club united by a love of blogging and evidenced by our friendship bracelets. And I am certain that I have made some new friends.

Being Social Sometimes Yields Tangible Results!

The icing on the cake is, I won a prize that includes personal blogging consulting from The Motherhood! I'm one lucky mommy blogger!
