Being the daughter of an educator reading has always been very important to me. As a Pittsburgh transplant, it has been nice to see that the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is such a strong part of the community. Below is information about its Annual Summer Reading Extravaganza. Don't stop learning during the summer! Dig into summer reading with an afternoon packed with live entertainment, crafts and cool activities for every member of the family.

  • Make your own smiley face cookie with Eat'n Park.
  • Hang out with the folks from Radio Disney & Friends.
  • Check out performances by:

    • Pittsburgh Musical Theater
    • The Squirrel Hillbillies
    • The Uncommon Quartet
    • Crusic Percussion with Colin Pinto-Martin
    • And more!
  • Take part in exciting activities and learn about Frick Art & Historical Center, Pittsburgh Park Conservancy, Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium, River Quest, WQED and so many other amazing Pittsburgh organizations.
  • Get into the swing of summer with activities from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
  • Watch puppet shows, learn origami and plant some seeds.
  • Meet Kenny Kangaroo and check out the Kennywood Trolley.
