Happy Summer!!!

Dog Days of Summer have begun Most working moms are exhausted this time of year. The kids are over school. The uniforms have holes in them and the book bags are held together with duct tape. And then, just like that, Memorial Day comes to help us cope with what we have to do. It gives us a reprieve to prepare for the summer--a less structured life filled with longer nights and more fun.

Terrific Tuesday: Mardi Gras, mom style

Tonight I took of my shirt in the privacy of my own home. I got applause from the baby, because she knew that it was time to eat.

We danced. We laughed. We even got a little crazy. I think that there are still sweet potatoes on the floor from our festivities.

I didn’t get any beads though.

I didn’t have a Hurricane either.  However, I had my final glass of wine during the week until after Easter. And I savored that sucker like a man on death row savors his last meal.

Somehow it tasted even better than usual. Go figure?!

As my grandma would probably say, that’s just the Devil’s way of tempting me. I’d say it’s psychosomatic. However, Tomato, Tomahto, I am still going to miss my nightly ritual for the next forty days and forty nights. I'm not even going to front! However, sacrifice will make me a better person.
Tomorrow begins my Lenten sacrifice.  This is always a reflective time of year for me, which I enjoy. Pausing helps me appreciate what I have. Sacrifice helps me remember what is important. It also helps me become more spiritual, which is something that I need to do from time to time.

Forget what you’ve heard, lawyers pray too! J
