Easter Reminded Me of the Miracles That Are My Children

Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! Things have been busy. I am still a working mom of three, working full time who is trying to make a difference. I do a lot of things and try to be present so that I can learn from them. I share them on this blog so that we can learn together. Below are some thoughts, hacks, and/or lessons that I have learned from navigating my world. Below is a tale of my road to becoming the mother of three. It was a road filled with joys and disappointments. However, I wouldn't giving nothing for my journey now. Here's to embracing every step of the journey, even the painful ones, and embracing the lessons learned along the way.

Mommy Mondays: The Business and Fun of Blogging

Why I Blog…

I started blogging because I love to write and want to inspire other women who are also on their quest for balance.  However, I have learned that blogging is a business.  Huffington Post recently ran a post that discussed the business of blogging. It was entitled, “MOMPRENEURS: The Monetization of Mom Bloggers”.

The Business of Blogging…

There are plenty of articles out there talking about the industry of mommy blogging. But this quick read digs deep into the details of how one person, the remarkable Audrey McClelland, co-founder of Getting Gorgeous and co-founder of her blog, Mom Generations, actually made it work. Rather than an unrealistic catchall of generic ideas, this lets you see how one person capitalized on their own ideas, and might spark some ideas as to how you can do the same!  Her secrets to success include hard work, dedication, brand loyalty and being online 24/7.

The Fun of Blogging…

Blogging is cool and fun! I’ve gotten invited to events as a blogger and even scored a media pass to Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2008 because of blogging.  One of the things that I enjoy most about blogging are the friends that I have made and meeting my followers.  Recently, I have run into women at events who follow my blog.  They said, “Hey I know you, I read your blog!”  It’s cool to be recognized and meeting them keeps me motivated!  When we were in DC recently, I met two women from Ohio who stopped me at the White House because they liked my outfit.  Apparently, my orange purse was more interesting than the monuments! I actually put my outfit together with advice that Tory Burch posted on her blog and topped off the ensemble with tortoise shell sunglasses by Kate Spade that I scored on Smart Bargains.

Blogging makes the world go ‘round!

Below is a photo of my friends from Ohio.  Hope those girls are enjoying their fall because they made my vacation!
