One Secret to a Working Mom Success: Celebrate the Seasons With Traditions

Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ! Things have been busy. I am still a working mom of three, working full time who is trying to make a difference. I do a lot of things and try to be present so that I can learn from them. I share them on this blog so that we can learn together. Below are some thoughts, hacks, and/or lessons that I have learned from navigating my world. "Family traditions counter alienation and confusion. They help us define who we are; they provide something steady, reliable and safe in a confusing world."— Susan Lieberman   Traditions have a way of defining a family, provide stability and give hope. They are especially important for woking moms who spend so much time working to provide for their family that they may miss some of the "traditional" mom things like bake sales, volunteering at the book fair, and a host of actual and seemingly made up holidays.  They are also important for families trying to reinvent themselves in the wake of d...

How Working Families Can Afford a Disney Vacation: The Disney Vacation Plan (#DisneySMMC)

I am a part of Disney Social Media Moms. As part of this program I received a discount package to visit Disney World with my family. All opinions expressed are my own.

Since becoming a member of Disney Social Media Moms I have become even more impressed with Disney as a company. Everyone knows that going to Disney World is a big deal. It truly is the most magical place on earth. And there is no place like it. That’s why the MVP of the Super Bowl looks so friggin’ excited when he says, “I’m going to Disney World!” (For a link to Hines Ward commercial, click here.)

For some people going to Disney World is a rite of passage. However, for many families, it can seem out of reach. Since I try to share information on this blog that helps families, I was really excited to learn that any family can visit Disney World with good planning, and Disney helps you do it.

The Disney Vacation Account

I believe that every child should have magical experiences. However, I know that working moms and dads have a lot of demands on their time and money. Sometimes, our best laid plans remain undone. Fortunately, a trip to Disney World does not have to fall into the "undone bucket".

Because Disney has a savings plan.

Families can establish a Disney Vacation Account and track progress towards the goal online. The kids can get involved by contributing birthday money, collecting cans, and even selling lemonade old school style. Mom and dad can contribute the money and watch it grow.

Everybody can get involved. Kids can learn sacrifice, discipline and saving. If you’re interested in learning more about the Disney Savings Account, click here
