Let’s use the spirit of Halloween to Help Us Be More Human All Year ‘Round

Mom celebrating the Halloween spirit Halloween is a season of fun, costumes , and candy . Indeed, it has become a favorite of mine. The kids get excited about their costumes, and spending the evening visiting neighbors and receiving candy in response to their declaration of, " Trick or Treat "! All around the country, neighbors open their doors and give candy to anyone who shows up seeking it. Upon reflection, it is a beautiful tradition that embodies the generosity of the human spirit. I was talking to someone yesterday and commented about how much I have grown to enjoy it and wished that it could last for more than one night.

Wordless Wednesday: 4th of July Weekend

I had the blessing to spend a happy, healthy and safe 4th of July weekend with my family. We went to the beach in Presque Isle, Pennsylvania. We had a cookout. And we watched the fireworks.

Just a typical holiday weekend...

We had the quintessential American holiday, something many take for granted. I am cognizant of the blessing of it all because four people were shot about a mile away from where my family and thousands of others watched the fireworks.

Things to remember...

There are lessons here. Here are a few that come to mind.
  1. Cherish liberty. However, cherish those you claim to love more.
  2. Tell them that you love them.
  3. Embrace them whenever you can.
  4. Put safety first.
  5. Above all else, be conscious of your blessings and take nothing for granted.
My prayers are with the families affected by the violence in Pittsburgh.
