Easter Reminded Me of the Miracles That Are My Children

Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! Things have been busy. I am still a working mom of three, working full time who is trying to make a difference. I do a lot of things and try to be present so that I can learn from them. I share them on this blog so that we can learn together. Below are some thoughts, hacks, and/or lessons that I have learned from navigating my world. Below is a tale of my road to becoming the mother of three. It was a road filled with joys and disappointments. However, I wouldn't giving nothing for my journey now. Here's to embracing every step of the journey, even the painful ones, and embracing the lessons learned along the way.

Working Mom Wisdom: Enjoy Your Weekends! #IdlewildPark #IdlewildPA

I received complimentary admission to the park for me and my family. All opinions are my own.

If us working moms aren't careful, our weekends can be consumed by errands and chores. Given our jam packed weeks that makes sense. However, allowing your weekends to be stressful and devoid of fun is a mistake. In light of all of the violence that has been going in our world, we owe it to ourselves to enjoy our families as much as possible. And the weekends are the best time for fun!

While I am fortunate, I don't currently outsource my chores to others. Still, I recognize that routines make chores more manageable. So, I have adopted routines that allow me to be present with my family on the weekends. And I am better for it. That said, I might be hiring some help soon because I'm always guilty of trying to do too much!

The smile on my son's face below compensates for all of the challenges I encounter to do it all, seriously.

Lots of Family Fun Can Be Had At Idlewild Park

When I got the opportunity to visit Idlewild Park, I decided to see if it was worth the drive from Pittsburgh. And it was! I can honestly say that if you are looking for fun that's a short drive away, check out Idlewild Park and Soak Zone! It is a quaint amusement park that is fun without being crowded, has live entertainment, and is small enough for you to walk around in your cutest wedges.

In the interest of full candor, I ditched my wedges and bought flip flops because I believed that I'd be uncomfortable at the end of the day. I had flashbacks from our Disney World trip in May. My fears were completely unnecessary.  My wedges would have served me just fine at Idlewild. I might even have gotten away with stilettos! Just because it's small doesn't mean that it's not fun.

What it lacks in fun, it makes up for in charm. It reminded me of the old amusement parks where I grew up. Where you went and bought tickets to ride the rides. That said, this is a big anniversary year for the park. So, it has made renovations all while preserving its old-fashioned feel.

Good times at Idlewild Park

With all of the activities competing for your dollars, working moms want a guarantee. Idlewild Park is about as close as it gets to that. It is affordable and provides amusement in a manageable space with the nicest of all possible staff. One of the best things to do for the little kids is to visit Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood where everything is built with them in mind. It was especially cool to see the the kids walking around like they owned the place.

Friendships formed at Idlewild Park
We also learned that we were in the place of greatness. Banana splits were discovered in Ligonier. Who knew?! And our bonus gift was that our daughter formed a friendship with a perfect stranger. What better treat is there than that?!

You know what might be a little better? The fact that she won her own toy at a carnival game and even beat her daddy!

Surprised she beat daddy!
