A Secret to Success This New Year: Become Committed and Resilient

Mom and son celebrating the new year in the Bahamas in 2025! "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." – Confucius Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ! Things have been busy. I am still a working mom of three , working full time who is trying to make a difference. I do a lot of things and try to be present so that I can learn from them. I share them on this blog so that we can learn together. Below are some thoughts, hacks, and/or lessons that I have learned from navigating my world. 2025 was intense. I faced a convergence of pressures: the stress of navigating life as a single mom while paying considerable  alimony ,  an intensifying family situation since we lost my beloved aunt, my dad, and my cousin’s mom—work related stress—learning a new job after an imposed job change, all while navigating the rapid pace of raising my kids and trying to maintain a standard of living for them with fewer resources. Working Mom Confession: Getting the most from your money at Chick-Fil-A

Not only did Chick-Fil-A invent the fast food chicken sandwich, it tends to rock the fast food game better than anyone else. It delivers a cost effective, wholesome product that you can be proud to serve your family. I choose Chick-Fil-A whenever I can because it is a healthier choice than other brands of fast food. Today we had to take my sister to the airport so that she could return to Atlanta. Because there's a Chick-Fil-A near the airport, I was very excited to go there with my kids for lunch. The indoor playground would help me get some peace and quiet. So, it would be a win/win.

Everything would have been perfect, had I not made a costly mistake...

Unfortunately, learned that I had forgotten my wallet at home. Fortunately, I was able to scrounge up $15.00, which allowed me to purchase a grilled chicken meal and a kids meal with 6 nuggets. Both came with drinks and abundant french fries. So, the three of us had enough to make a meal. That said, they inadvertently gave me 4 nuggets. When I brought it to their attention, they gave me 6 for free. So, my money went even further and the kids had more than enough food to satisfy them. It was a reminder that despite what we may see, we always have enough.
