A Grandfather’s Love, Demonstrated in Freeze Pops

As the weather starts to break a bit, we make plans for Spring Break, and I book my kids in a variety of Summer camps,  I am reminded that this summer will be different because we won't have my dad to share the summer with,  My dad kept these on the rotation, in every flavor. Not even sure how he gets them now because I think they are the equivalent of "kid crack"--made with artificial coloring, flavoring, and sugar . To my kids though, these freeze pops were love and summer wrapped in a bow. (As an Amazon associate, I am compensated for qualifying purchases.)

Celebrating Memorial Day Weekend

A Memorial Day Photo circa 2015

As a "mommy blogger", I am always simultaneously living my life and composing blog posts. Seriously, since my life is the fodder for this blog and informs the tips that I post to help other working moms, I live a dual existence of experiencing things and editing them at the same time. I've been doing it so long that it comes naturally to me. And I generally don't question it. That said, there are times when even this experienced blogger can't do it, like the past three days.

In the past three days, my daughter has had two ballet performances at one of the most prestigious downtown theaters. Those performances required hair and makeup, which meant mommy was fully engaged. She wanted to celebrate her feat with a cookout, which meant entertaining. And there were also two other children to tend to. Thank God for my mother who took the two older kids with her for a couple days after the performances.

As luck would have it, as soon as she left, the baby decided to have a full fledged GI event replete with watery stool and vomit, all of which landed on mommy. As any mom knows, when your baby is sick, it is as if time stops. So, since I am still experiencing it, I have no helpful tips except this one. Working moms need to develop a support system. That way, when s--t hits the fan, you're not standing all alone in a pool of combo vomit and poop without anybody else to hold the baby while you shower!
