A Grandfather’s Love, Demonstrated in Freeze Pops

As the weather starts to break a bit, we make plans for Spring Break, and I book my kids in a variety of Summer camps,  I am reminded that this summer will be different because we won't have my dad to share the summer with,  My dad kept these on the rotation, in every flavor. Not even sure how he gets them now because I think they are the equivalent of "kid crack"--made with artificial coloring, flavoring, and sugar . To my kids though, these freeze pops were love and summer wrapped in a bow. (As an Amazon associate, I am compensated for qualifying purchases.)

Hoping for America's Promise on July 4th

Baby celebrating Independence Day

Today, we all celebrate our nation's independence in our own way. These are complicated times to be an American.  Our president is making confusing choices, constitutional rights are up for grabs because of the resignation of Anthony Kennedy from the Supreme Court, and LeBron James has left the Cleveland Cavaliers. Yes, these are complicated times indeed.

True patriots

Still, on balance, this great experiment called America had changed the world in so many ways. And, it gave birth to and elected Barack Obama to the highest office in the land. So, today, I celebrate America's potential and spent time by an integrated pool, enjoyed some good food, and spent great time with family and friends--just like Dr. King dreamt about, even if it wasn't exactly like the founders intended.

Dynamic duo

This year, I was blessed to share the day with my kids, my mom, and my siblings.  I enjoyed my freedoms, counted my blessings, and prayed for this dear country.  Despite the complications, I believe that we can still live up to our creed.

Here's hoping!

Happy Independence Day!!!
