Mothering during the Summer

Mom with three kids "Summertime and the livin' is easy..." -Gershwin It's summertime and the living is supposed to be easy. My summer has been anything but.  It's had cloudy days, tearful nights. And questions, lots of questions. It has had lies and betrayals. And relationships that have eroded beyond repair. It has brought me to my knees. And, it has required profound resolve to remember life's true meaning just to make it through. And  required the maturity to do what is right despite what I may be feeling. It has been a lot. It has been incredibly hard. And, it has taught me that I am incapable of being broken. So, even though summertime ain't been easy, this life is to be celebrated. Because like Gloria Gaynor, "I will survive!" And, I have. I am even thriving.

Back to School Season!

The coolest kid in Kindergarten

My youngest kid is cool. This photo says it all. It was taken last year by his Montessori teacher. I found it on the class website. I have no reason why he was throwing up the deuces in a random class photo taken at his Catholic school. But there he is, in true, "I am being raised by people who know what's up" fashion.

The First Day of School is Coming

He, and his brother start school this week. I cannot believe that he'll be starting Kindergarten. I am surprised that I am emotional about it. It marks the end of an era. I have no more babies and I will have no more babies. From this time forward, I will be in child raising, child rearing, and child educating mode. The task now is preparing all of them for college and the real world. Where did the time go?!

I intend to post about the first day of school, our preparing for it, our executing it, and hopefully our enjoying it. That said, I wanted to share this photo of my youngest--the coolest kid starting Kindergarten this year. As the youngest, he often has to share. However, on this day, he has a post all of his own because he is staking his own claim on the world.

Deuces!
