Greetings from Chaton's World in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! My days often start with laundry, early-morning emails, and making my kids a hot breakfast. They often end with late-night homework checks, making Instagram reels, and appearing on Celebrity Court of Public Opinion. Somewhere in between, I’m navigating boardrooms, working towards deadlines, and immersed in the good, bad, and ugly chaos of motherhood and household management. Being Stylish in Hot Weather
Dresses: The Unsung Heroes of Heat Wave Survival
Indeed, super-hot days have taught me this: when the temperature rises, dresses win. Every. Single. Time. As a working mom juggling meetings, deadlines, activities, and endless errands, I don't have time to overthink my wardrobe. Also, as someone who commutes to work by walking to the train station, on scorching days, I need to be as cool as possible and comfortable. Indeed, I constantly evaluate my fashion choices to determine if they meet this goal, and I tend to gravitate towards dresses because they are so damn easy!
They simplify my morning routine. There are no tops and bottoms to coordinate. There’s nothing to fidget with. I slip it on and walk out the door with the confidence that I am ready for the day. I look polished for work and I can throw on flats or sneakers and participate in a more casual afterwork activity.
Then, there is that great breeze when the wind blows!
My fashion life, especially in summer, has become a quest in simplification:
1. Less layering.
2. Less coordinating.
3. More comfort.
I don’t know whether this is a productivity hack, but has been a game changer for me. So, if you are in search of a way to simplify your life, identify some great fitting dresses in your closet and let them do the heavy lifting.
