Easter Reminded Me of the Miracles That Are My Children

Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! Things have been busy. I am still a working mom of three, working full time who is trying to make a difference. I do a lot of things and try to be present so that I can learn from them. I share them on this blog so that we can learn together. Below are some thoughts, hacks, and/or lessons that I have learned from navigating my world. Below is a tale of my road to becoming the mother of three. It was a road filled with joys and disappointments. However, I wouldn't giving nothing for my journey now. Here's to embracing every step of the journey, even the painful ones, and embracing the lessons learned along the way.

Smiles instead of regrets on a Monday...

Can it really be that Monday is just on the horizon again? It seems as though Friday was just moments ago, but instead, it's late Sunday night and my mind races about all of the tasks that are left undone.

Although there was no time for mopping, there was plenty of time for dancing and dinners. Although there was no time for cleaning the bathrooms, there was surprisingly plenty of time for romance and kissing in the rain...

Although there was no time for laundry, there was just enough time to share a brownie sundae while the sun set. Although there was no time for calling out of state friends to catch up, I managed to fit in one cocktail on the patio at a neighborhood restaurant. I even fit in a gala, for the Pittsburgh DiverseCity festival.

Time is an amazingly fluid concept. Although we deny it, we always make time to do what you want to do. The Bible says, "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also". People often deny this. They often talk about how important their family is to them, even though they spend all of their free time with their friends and don't call their mothers every week. They talk about how religious they are, even though they rarely pray and hardly ever go to church. However, as we have all figured out over time, the Bible is always right.

Some of my friends, including me often talk about how much we value having sparkling clean homes and well organized lives. We claim that we aspire to be the kind of women who are well rested, never have a hair out of place and who can get ready for work in 15 minutes and look perfect. When I am completely honest with myself though, I think, "Who are we kidding?!" We like hanging out, going out for dinner and drinks, exercising, and taking a break on the weekends. So, unless we hire someone to do the cleaning and the shopping and the organizing, it ain't happening.

You know what though? I'm fine with it. Because as the 11th hour approaches, and Monday is on the horizon, I have decided that I am no longer going to lament that the laundry isn't done and the furniture is dusty. Instead, I am remembering that kiss in the rain, and it's making me smile...
