One Secret to a Working Mom Success: Make Family Events More Enjoyable With Friends

Better Together: Why Inviting Another Family Makes Activities More Fun #FamilyFun Sometimes family activities can feel like another item on the to-do list. However, doing those activities with another family makes them more fun! Whether it’s a trip to an amusement park , a visit to the local pool , or trip to a pumpkin patch , including another family can multiply the fun in amazing ways. One of my favorite moms to collaborate with is my friend, Ayana Ledford who's pictured above with her daughter Sahar. We have done all of the things listed as seemingly random examples above and here is how including her and her daughter (and sometimes her son too) has made the events more fun. On the date above, Ayana almost left the venue because parking was a nightmare. That said, she hung in there and we would up having a great time!

A Peek Into the Life of a Mommy Blogger: Participating in the American Heart Association Heart Walk with Jenny Craig

This morning I woke up early to participate in the American Heart Association Heart Walk. I was honored to represent Jenny Craig at the walk. I also had lots of fun and met great people.

I got to meet a great woman, Kristi Roehm, who runs the PR department at Jenny Craig. To use a cliche, she is "totally awesome" and she is from Pittsburgh. Now she lives in Carlsbad, California and actually knows Kim Kardashian and her sisters! Now, I am only one degree of separation from them! She gets to travel and meet great people. It would have been my dream job out of college. She's living the dream. We may get to enjoy her life vicariously soon. She's considering starting a blog.

I met a blogger named Amy who blogs at "Eleanor's Trousers". Amy is fun irreverent and was a real trooper. We totally froze our tails off this AM. And unlike me, she never complained.

Kristi couldn't have been more gracious and she is a great ambassador for the company. Kristi lost over forty pounds after having her daughter and through that process she became committed to helping others do the same. She even motivated her mom to join Team Jenny!

Kristi said that Jenny Craig has a great relationship with the American Heart Association because the company's research has shown that movement is an integral part of weight loss. However, the company recognizes that looking good is not enough. Being healthy matters too.

She's an advocate of walking as a way to lose weight and achieve cardiovascular health. She said that both her and Jenny’s Brand Ambassador, Valerie Bertinelli, lost their weight by eating right and walking. Indeed, the research has shown that just 30 minutes a day of walking can bring significant health benefits. Notably, that walking does not have to occur at once. You can walk for ten minutes three times a day and achieve the health benefits.

Walking can also get the competitive juices flowing. Both Kristi and Valerie transformed from walkers into runners and completed a half marathon! I actually decided to run the Heart Walk myself. It was so very cold last Saturday that I decided to run the route to get warmer. It’s the only time I’ve ever come in first! (I guess that was easy to do since everyone else was walking. Still, it felt good!)

Jenny Craig also makes tasty food! I scored several bags of their White Cheddar cheese popcorn and became a believer. It was as good as “Smart Food”, but with fewer fat and calories.

As you can see, after my time with Team Jenny at the American Heart Association Heart Walk I became a believer in the company and made great friends. If you are looking to transform your life—lose weight and improve your health—find a Jenny Craig office near you.

Also, stay tuned. I’ll be running a valuable promotion for a free 30 day Jenny Craig program soon!
