One Secret to a Working Mom's Success: Keep Standing

Me, standing in Barbados Those of us who live our lives out loud on the internet subject ourselves to scrutiny. Some comment, "Nobody's life is perfect. These posts must be fake," Those making those comments might even be close to us because they "know our business" and they whisper and gossip and say, "she's so fake".  To those who may read my blog and make such comments, (the trolls) know that I hear you, see you, and completely disagree.

Moms, don't be shy, dance like Michelle Obama and Jimmy Fallon!

If you need any inspiration to get your groove on, look at our First Lady, Michelle Obama, for inspiration. She has taken several chances recently, she has gotten bangs, mixed patterns and had the confidence to dance on late night TV.  With her "Let's Move" campaign against childhood obesity and this appearance on Jimmy Fallon she is starting her own version of a "Dance, Dance Revolution"!

If you missed the show like I did because you tend to fall asleep at 9:45PM with your laptop while blogging on your couch despite your desire to go up to your bed with the handsome man who is waiting there...below is the video.

Moms Can Get Caught in a Rut

She may not be creating world peace, but she is inspiring moms one dance and one fashioin choice at a time. I am trying to think about what I can do to take a chance. I probably won't rock the bangs lest I run the risk of looking like an old middle school student (Michelle Obama is rocking them well, but they didn't work out too well for Natalie Morales  on the Today Show. Natalie had them for a couple of weeks and then saw the light and grew them out. Unless you're the FLOTUS or Kate Middleton it's kind of hard to pull off bangs after age 14...), mixing patterns only works for celebrities, and nobody wants to see me dance on TV, late night or otherwise.

Still, life can become mundane. We can get caught in our routines that our lives become boring. Once that happens, we become boring too. Then a decade pasts and we are wearing the same hair do, the same clothes, and have kept the same schedule. We complain that our lives lack spontaneity and those complaints are well founded. However, instead of buying a sports car or having an affair we can do something small, but powerful.

We can change our hair, modify our clothes, or learn the latest dance. Even small changes can make us feel vibrant again.

Perhaps I'll do something crazy and wear my garnet patent leather shoes with a tan dress this week??? Who said that working moms can't work it?! (We cannot forget Beyonce' working it at the Super Bowl can we?  (see Beyonce, One Working Mom Who Rocked the Super Bowl)

Any other ideas for shaking things up a bit that will lift my spirits and won't get me fired?!
