A Secret to Success as a Working Mom: Turn Burn Out Into Bliss and Embrace Joy

Last weekend my youngest was committed to going to the "Water Steps" a man-made water fall in Pittsburgh by the rivers. (Fun Fact: Three rivers converge in Pittsburgh--The Ohio River, The Monongahela River, and the Allegheny River.)  He kept asking. I knew he was serious when he said, "If you won't take me, I'll ask  daddy!" Given that it was highly unlikely that would happen on an unscheduled day, I relented. So, we went. It wasn’t planned in the way most things in my life are. No calendar block. No checklist. No “productive” purpose attached. And, so in some respects it was uncomfortable. And yet, it seemed necessary. It was the idea of my 8-year-old—offered with the kind of urgency only children possess when something is profoundly important to them.

Working Mom Reflections: Disney Social Media Moms (#DisneySMMC)

I am a part of Disney Social Media Moms. As part of this program I received a discount package to visit Disney World with my family. All opinions expressed are my own.

“You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.”–Walt Disney

A couple of weeks ago I announced that I had been selected from a special program called Disney Social Media Moms.  (Here’s a link to the post where I announced the good news.) Last week, I had the good fortune of visiting Disney World as a part of that program and it was AWESOME!!!

Disney World truly is the most wonderful place in the world the happiest place on earth.  The superlatives used to describe the place are not just marketing. They are true. First, it is an absolutely beautiful place. The landscaping is both incredible and inspired. Just being on the grounds transformed my mood. Seeing all of the beautiful flowers and bushes shaped like character just made me happy!
Second, Disney goes out of its way to make your experience magical. The cast members take service to the next level. They greet you with a smile, offer to help, and make every effort to ensure that you have an amazing vacation! That doesn’t even include all of the surprise performances filled with some of the most upbeat and talented people on the planet.

Also, Disney has the best fireworks that I have seen!

Third, the food at Disney World restaurants is amazing. The food at the parks is great amusement park food. However, the restaurants are world class. They have whatever you could possibly want and are also sensitive to food allergies. My sister was traveling with us and she's gluten-free. Once the waiters became aware, the chef would come out to discuss her dietary requirements and they made her dreams a reality.

Disney Food Rocks!
I’ll be posting more about my Disney experience and why I am so honored to have been selected for the program. In the meantime, I hope that you enjoy these photos!
