One Secret to a Working Mom Success: Make Family Events More Enjoyable With Friends

Better Together: Why Inviting Another Family Makes Activities More Fun #FamilyFun Sometimes family activities can feel like another item on the to-do list. However, doing those activities with another family makes them more fun! Whether it’s a trip to an amusement park , a visit to the local pool , or trip to a pumpkin patch , including another family can multiply the fun in amazing ways. One of my favorite moms to collaborate with is my friend, Ayana Ledford who's pictured above with her daughter Sahar. We have done all of the things listed as seemingly random examples above and here is how including her and her daughter (and sometimes her son too) has made the events more fun. On the date above, Ayana almost left the venue because parking was a nightmare. That said, she hung in there and we would up having a great time!

It's Finally Friday...

While I enjoy weekends before having a baby I didn't need them as much.  The week was full of work, working out, and working it at events after work.  The weekend was generally full of cocktails and conversation.  I used to think that I was "so busy", but I was misguided.

Before I get hate mail.  I am not diminishing what single people do in their lives.  My description above is brief for efficiency sake.  Of course I did more things than that.  I'm active in community, I have been inside of a church numerous times, I have an important job.  Blah, blah, blah.

But this is my blog and I am going to tell my story.

It may be just me, but I had no idea what busy was until I became a working mom.  This baby, cute as she is, has me coming and going.

I thought that the infant stage was tough because she needed me for everything.  Now that we're turning the corner on toddlerhood, it's gotten busier.  You have to watch her closely and she requires constant attention and entertainment.  She is a bundle of joy, but she is also a bundle of energy!

Now, I appreciate the weekend for what it truly is a break from communting, conference calls, and colleagues. It's a time for me to catch up on housework, phone calls, and most importantly on this baby.  She changes every day and I don't want to miss a moment of it!

Amen....mine is now 20 months and she is in everything. I sued to be able to grocery shop with her I can no longer because all she wants to do is explore it is crazy. She wipes me out seriously. Have a great restful weekend.

Yes, you would "think" that it gets easier because toddlers can walk and communicate better with you. But oh no! Put your tennis shoes on and get ready for the RACE OF YOUR LIFE!! I have never been busier in my life, but it is a GREAT kind of busy.
