One Secret to a Working Mom Success: Minimize Expenses

Following Instagram posts can make you feel like other moms are either made of money or have sugar daddies funding their lifestyles. I can assure you. I have neither. There is nobody funneling money into my household except for me. And because I was an economics major and my dad was a banker, I am keenly aware of cash flow, assets and liabilities, and expenditures. Still, sometimes, I forget how expensive life can be. It's not because I lied about having a sugar daddy or have a trust fund.  It is because I am frugal. Indeed, being conscious of expenditures is integrated into my lifestyle.  I know that it is gauche to discuss money and yet, I feel compelled to share some thoughts.

Friday Tip: National Fried Chicken Day!

I was watching the Today Show this morning and I learned something.  Apparently today is National Fried Chicken Day. To think that "they" (whoever "they" are) had the wisdom to create a holiday to honor my favorite childhood food.

I can tell my life's story through my experiences with fried chicken.

As a kid, I liked Kentucky Fried Chicken and Church's Chicken. When I went to LA in 2001, I had to try Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles

I really enjoyed my fried chicken.  However, I haven't had it since I was pregnant and craved it constantly.  My tastes have changed. I am more of a sushi girl.  Don't judge me... Also, I realized that eating fried chicken regular isn't good for my waistline.  That being said, sometimes I think about my mom's fried chicken and it makes me smile.

When my sister and I were little, we would have picnics in Highland Park in Rochester, New York.  She used to make fried chicken and potato salad and bake a Sara Lee Apple Pie.  We would go to the park after church, eat our lunch and roll down the hill.  Those were good times!

She hasn't made fried chicken in a really long time.  I hope that you celebrate National Fried Chicken Day in your own way!
