One Secret to a Working Mom Success: Make Family Events More Enjoyable With Friends

Better Together: Why Inviting Another Family Makes Activities More Fun #FamilyFun Sometimes family activities can feel like another item on the to-do list. However, doing those activities with another family makes them more fun! Whether it’s a trip to an amusement park , a visit to the local pool , or trip to a pumpkin patch , including another family can multiply the fun in amazing ways. One of my favorite moms to collaborate with is my friend, Ayana Ledford who's pictured above with her daughter Sahar. We have done all of the things listed as seemingly random examples above and here is how including her and her daughter (and sometimes her son too) has made the events more fun. On the date above, Ayana almost left the venue because parking was a nightmare. That said, she hung in there and we would up having a great time!

READING ON THE RUN: Articles of Interest to Moms and Working Women (Feminism, Sex, and Work)

Below are four articles that I believe will be of interest to moms and working women.

ENJOY!!!

The Anniversary of The Feminine Mystique

This is the anniversary of The Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan, a book that is widely viewed as the feminine manifesto.  It may not have launched the feminist movement, but it did bring it more attention.  Indeed, it is a book that has launched a thousand activists. It is also a book, as you will see in the articles below, that remains relevant.

To be honest, I have never read it. However, I have benefited from it.  Also, like all women under 50 I have heard about it for years and its principles have influenced my life. Also, the reviews of it make clear that the attention that Ms. Friedan brought to the issue of the role of women in this country opened a lot of doors for women.
For that reason, I decided to compile a few articles.  One is about the anniversary of Ms. Friedan’s book and the others are about issues affecting modern professional women—sex, housework, stress and work/life balance.  I bet those are the same issues that women faced in Ms. Friedan’s time.  The more things change…
