A Grandfather’s Love, Demonstrated in Freeze Pops

As the weather starts to break a bit, we make plans for Spring Break, and I book my kids in a variety of Summer camps,  I am reminded that this summer will be different because we won't have my dad to share the summer with,  My dad kept these on the rotation, in every flavor. Not even sure how he gets them now because I think they are the equivalent of "kid crack"--made with artificial coloring, flavoring, and sugar . To my kids though, these freeze pops were love and summer wrapped in a bow.

A Peek Into the Life of a Working Mom: Almost Wordless Wednesday (National Ice Cream Month)

This is another post to honor National Ice Cream Month. Ice Cream is such a yummy thing to enjoy. It also brings families together.  We were fortunate enough to visit Klavon's Ice Cream Parlor, a true Pittsburgh treasure, recently.  Below are a few shots from our visit.

Klavon's Ice Cream Parlor is a great place to enjoy some ice cream

There is an old-fashioned ice cream parlor in the Strip called Klavon's Ice Cream Parlor.  I had driven by many times and wondered what it was like. So, when my daughter said that she wanted to get some ice cream and wanted to sit down in a restaurant, I decided to give it a try.  We were not disappointed. The ambience and the ice cream were perfect!

One of the cool things about Klavon's is the Dora the Explorer table they have for kids. My daughter loved it!

The portions were large and the ice cream was home made. If you go, make sure you're a little hungry because you're going to need some room in your stomach. Also, plan to share!

A Brownie sundae at Klavon's Ice Cream Parlor
Kids approach ice cream sundaes as things to conquer.  My daughter was more than prepared to eat this entire sundae, even though it was nearly as large as she is.  Eventually, she gave up and Andre and I had some.  She gave it a valiant effort though!
